Looking for a quick bite on your lunchbreak while you’re in the east valley, but don’t want to spend a bundle? We’ve got you covered! Here are a few of our favorite spots that are prompt, economical and delicious.
SoCal Fish Taco Company
socaltaco
Inspired by the cuisine from the California beach, this downtown Gilbert spot brings a distinct vibe to the East Valley. Their lunch and dinner menu includes fish tacos, crab cakes, jumbo shrimp, fresh salads and other seafood favorites. While you’re there, try the beer-battered lobster tacos or the award-winning chowder served in a delicious bread bowl. With speedy service and a relaxing patio, SoCal Fish Taco Co. is sure to become one of your new spots. You can find them in Old Town Gilbert on the Southeast corner of Gilbert Rd. and Cullumber Ave.
New Mexican Grill
newmexigreen
Bringing New Mexican family traditions to the valley, New Mexican Grill is a neighborhood family spot that serves authentic New Mexican cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fans of more spicy fare will love the Hatch Chile. The burritos are excellent, the enchiladas are loaded with cheese, and there must be some addictive substance in the mini chimichangas, but the best part is that it’s possible to feed a family of four with drinks and dessert for less that 30 dollars. This neighborhood gem is at 3107 S Lindsay Rd here in Gilbert.
Higley Hot Dogs
higley
Owned by the Kryza family since 1985, this one’s a quirky little spot that makes authentic Chicago hot dogs. Many of the ingredients are Vienna Beef products shipped directly from the Windy City, which includes the relish, peppers and poppy-seed buns. For a truly authentic experience, order a dog “dragged through the garden” but when you do, be sure to follow the protocol. Higley Hot Dogs is a cash only joint, and you must place your order outside before finding a seat inside. Find this unique experience at 16705 E. Williams Field Rd. in Gilbert.
