Tips for your Gilbert Dental Emergency

One of the most common dental emergencies is a fractured tooth, which presents its own unique set of problems. First of all, save any broken pieces of the tooth and rinse your mouth with warm water – broken pieces of tooth need to be rinsed too. If any bleeding is present, apply gauze for at least 10 minutes until it lets up.

If a tooth has been knocked-out entirely, place it gently back into the socket if possible – never force it. If this doesn’t seem like an option, put the tooth in a small container of milk. The tooth is very much still alive and requires active care.

Finally, many people experience borderline emergency toothaches. Be sure to rinse your mouth and use dental floss near the surrounding area – sometimes the pain is attributed to lodged debris. Secondly, use a cold compress on the mouth or cheek. Do not use aspirin or any other painkiller against your gums. In some cases, an emergency root canal may be required. Do you have a dental emergency? Never hesitate to call – we’ll treat you as soon as possible.
